Chocolate Banana Ice Cream #bananaeats
Oh hello there, I am back with another recipe :). It's getting hotter and hotter (I know, woe is me), and I am craving all the cold and sweet things. There is, well was, a giant tub of oreo ice cream in the fridge, and I usually would never have that within arms reach, but my hubby loves the stuff, and I keep finding myself eating it - even though it makes me feel sick! Anyway, I kept seeing this banana "nice cream" online, so I decided to give it a try! It is a healthy alternative to regular ice cream.
Now, disclaimer here - this does NOT replace ice cream, anyone who tells you it does, is a liar. Or they forgot what ice cream tastes like :) But, its a great alternative, and an easy, healthy, frozen treat throughout the week, because its basically just bananas.
I made a quickie video below, so take a look - and please subscribe to my youtube channel, I am going to be putting out more videosevery week, and it would help a sistah out!
Ingredients:
- 2 frozen ripe bananas (freeze them the night before in ziploc bags)
- 2 tablespoons of cacao powder
- 1 tsp of vanilla extract
- Toppings: handful of cacao nibs and hazelnuts/walnuts
Directions:
-The night before, peel and chop up ripe bananas, put them into ziploc bags to freeze
-When you want your "ice cream", take out the bananas, blend them up until smooth, constantly scraping down the sides.
-Add cacao powder and vanilla, blend again
-Put in whatever toppings you want (cacao nibs and nuts), blend again until it is like a soft serve.
Then EAT. it's pretty good and I am sure other frozen fruit with it would taste just as good :)
